Climb Tanzania’s Mount Kilimanjaro
Goway is offering hikers, or more serious mountaineers, the opportunity to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. Kilimanjaro is the highest free-standing mountain in the world. It’s located entirely in Tanzania, though the best views of the mountain are from Kenya’s Amboseli National Park.
A number of our staff, including President, Bruce Hodge, have successfully reached the summit and thus are uniquely equipped to advise on the best routing, preparations, and packing requirements. “Theoretically, any reasonably fit person can reach the top,” says Hodge, “They need to take their time, drink lots of water, and ideally, don’t do the trek immediately after a long-haul flight.” Hodge also recommends that climbers do a safari beforehand, as this will help them acclimatize. A beach stay in Zanzibar would be a great place to relax afterwards.

Goway offers different routes for a Kilimanjaro climb:
Marangu Route: Also known as the Coca-Cola route as it is considered to be the easiest, it is also the busiest and uses the same route for ascending and descending.
Machame Route: This route offers spectacular views and a minimum of 6 days hiking is recommended.
Umbwe Route: Short, steep, and direct, this is considered to be the most challenging climb, and so sees fewer people.
