Get Ready to Embark on the Second Installment of Cape to Cairo Journey of a Lifetime!
Goway Travel is now taking bookings for the second departure of its highly successful Africa vacation, 32-Day Cape to Cairo Ultimate Journey of a Lifetime.
“Cape to Cairo” is the name of one of the most famous transcontinental travel routes in the world. It was named by Cecil Rhodes at the height of the British Empire in the 1890s. In January of this year, Goway Travel operated its first luxury “Journey of a Lifetime” across Africa, based on this legendary track. The company’s next exclusive trans-African experience will depart on 29 September 2017.
Rhodes envisioned a ribbon of steel… a railway line… a British “red line” linking the Empire’s African colonies. Unfortunately, it was never completed. However, two weeks of Goway’s 32-day itinerary includes travelling by luxury train through South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Tanzania. This portion of the trip is taken aboard Rovos Rail, the most luxurious train in the world. The rest of the journey connects the dots in Rwanda, Ethiopia, and Egypt, with safari vehicles, small planes, big planes, and a Nile River boat. Accommodation is first class throughout, involving the most luxurious lodges and hotels in Africa. Sleeping under canvas in the Serengeti includes butler service.
This unique experience is part of Goway’s exclusive Holidays of a Lifetime luxury escorted tours program to Australia, Southern Africa, South America, India, and China/Tibet. All these trips carry Goway’s “promise of something special.”
“There are very few changes to our second itinerary,” claims Bruce Hodge, President and Founder of Goway Travel, “Just improvements.” Hodge and his wife, Claire, hosted the first journey, keeping a blog to share the adventure. The host of the next Cape to Cairo adventure is Beverly Barton, an avid world traveller who grew up in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) and has lived in Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. She is also a qualified nurse who actually travelled on Goway’s inaugural Cape to Cairo journey.
“Our African Journey of a Lifetime is available only for a lucky few.” states Hodge. “You have to be fortunate to have the time (32 plus days) and be available on the required date.” There are only 15 spots open for our guests. The price is US $49,900 per person twin share or US $61,935 for singles. Airfare to Cape Town and from Cairo are extra, as is insurance.
There are 14 unique items for the Africa Bucket list “tickers” out there, including the annual Great Migration and meeting mountain gorillas face to face. That’s roughly one “tick” every two days!
