INTERVIEW WITH AN EXPERT – Introducing Luis Lagunes, Destination Specialist

Many of Goway’s Central & South America destination specialists have lived in either Central or South America. In fact, many were born there. In addition, everyone has travelled extensively in the region and continues to do so. This experience, along with Goway’s in-depth, ongoing training program, makes them the leading experts in tailoring travel experiences to suit your individual client’s needs.

Goway offers over 600 unforgettable journeys to every country in the region—from Mexico to the bottom tip of Argentina—plus an endless choice of tailor-made travel ideas based on your client’s budget, availability, time, and most importantly, imagination. No one else offers the depth of knowledge for Central & South America that Goway and its team of destination specialists do!

Maestro, from the Italian, means “master,” “teacher,” or “specialist,” and Goway is full of them! To help you get to know the personality and expertise of our destination specialists, we’re introducing each member of our team. Today, get to know Luis Lagunes!

Where were you born?

Veracruz Mexico

Where in Central & South America have you travelled?

(Ed: Luis is one of our most travelled destination experts and when not selling dream vacations, he is usually on one. I was nervous we would not have space to list all his destinations but here we go…)
Central America: Mexico, Cuba, Belize, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Panama.
South America: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay, and Antarctica.
This is just in Latin America (and beneath). You should see the list for other places!

How long have you worked at Goway?

Almost 7 years.

What’s your favourite destination in Central & South America and why?

Argentina, because of the complexity of the country. It has so much to offer and each experience can be so different from the last. There is cosmopolitan, vibrant city life in Buenos Aires, world famous wine regions in Mendoza and Cafayate, outdoor nature areas like Salta with high deserts in the north, plus Patagonia and glaciers in the south, and the worlds largest water fall – Iguassu – in the North East. The historic Missiones area as well as the Andes offer a natural border, rolling off into the wide-open pampas. The only thing Argentina misses is the Amazon.

What’s the most-requested destination by your clients?

Peru. Hard to escape Peru as the most popular first-time destination! Machu Picchu calls most as does easy access to the Amazon, a rich indigenous culture, and some of the most diverse landscapes South America can offer.

What’s your favourite Latin Food?

Mexican! Hey, I’m Mexican so I’ll wave the culinary flag!
