ABOUT JEAN-MICHEL COUSTEAU
Explorer. Environmentalist. Educator. Film Producer. For more than four decades, Jean-Michel Cousteau has been an impassioned diplomat for the environment and our ocean planet. As Founder, Chairman of the Board and President of Ocean Futures Society, a non-profit marine conservation and education organization, Jean-Michel has championed understanding worldwide about the critical relationship between people and the sea and the importance of wise environmental policy.
Traveling the Amazon originally with his esteemed father 35 years ago, Cousteau and the Ocean Futures Society team returned in 2008 to this bio-diverse ecosystem to film “Ocean Adventures – Return to the Amazon” for PBS. An award-winning producer of over 80 films, Jean-Michel has been recognized internationally with numerous prestigious awards for his pioneering work in ocean conservation. In May 2016, he was honored with the highest French civilian order of distinction, the Chevalier de la Légion D’Honneur, Knight of the Legion of Honor by the President of France, François Hollande.
