Live Like a Local Downunder With Goway

A travel highlight for most Globetrotters is to mingle and interact with locals. But to actually live amongst them, even for just a short while, is an experience of a lifetime. In 2017 travellers to the South Pacific will be able to live “like a local” (LAL) in a new, innovative program created by Goway Travel, the long haul travel experts for over 46 years.

The company has introduced LAL in five different areas in the South Pacific – Rarotonga (Cook Islands), Bay of Plenty (New Zealand) plus the Sunshine, Gold, and Central coasts in Queensland and New South Wales, Australia. Each program is for a minimum of two weeks, giving Globetrotters enough time to enjoy the place like a local. Each specific area is a community where Australians and New Zealanders themselves choose to holiday because of the wonderful facilities, weather, and lifestyle. There are very few international visitors…except for the few who come to enjoy life the local way.

Goway “LALers” stay in a self-contained apartment in a building with all the modern conveniences including a swimming pool. It is steps to the local beach, shopping, and transportation. All Goway clients receive a grocery starter pack and a welcome information kit containing maps, transport timetables, important contacts such as local clubs (diggers, surf, golf, bowls, fishing, etc.), current events (surf carnivals, festivals, rugby, cricket) and suggested activities (beach, bush walking, cycling, picnics, and barbecues, day tours, shopping, farmers markets, churches, etc.). Transfers to and from the gateway city airports (Rarotonga, Auckland, Brisbane, and Sydney) are also included. The company’s own Sydney office provides 24/7 contact for advice and emergencies.

Australian and New Zealanders (and Cook Islanders) are famous for their hospitality. In fact, many LALers visiting these countries return home having made new friends for life.

Travellers on this program may combine their LAL stay with other touring such as a visit to the Outback or the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. Some may want to stay longer or even combine different stays, e.g. Cook Islands and New Zealand, or New Zealand and Australia. This obviously is an idea that will appeal to travellers with time on their hands, as well as return visitors to Downunder.

Prices and full details about Goway’s local living areas Downunder, the local accommodations recommended and inclusions can be found at Goway.com. This program will also be featured in Goway’s very comprehensive 2017 DOWNUNDER travel catalogue, available now online and distributed in January.
