As our Team Lead for Asia, Frank attends annual supplier trade shows in the region and always comes home with lots of unique and innovative itinerary ideas. Frank’s latest adventure was to Bali, Indonesia. An island province basking in the Indian Ocean, Bali is known as the Land of the Gods and its mystique is legendary. The island’s sheer natural beauty of forested volcanic mountains, lush terraced rice fields, and warm, tropical waters exude peace and serenity.
It is no wonder that Frank came back with a list of group-friendly ideas to “wow” any globetrotting group traveller wanting to immerse themselves in a unique and fascinating culture. To that end, here are his top five immersive experiences in Bali that your clients can enjoy on a customized group with Goway:
1. Cycling tours through local villages and rice fields
Bali is a beautiful island with rice paddies and jungle temples strewn across the landscape. Thus, it’s the perfect place to explore by bike, which lets you venture across the island at an easy pace in the company of experienced guides. You can travel along backroads through the rural countryside, passing through villages and enjoying the stunning sights of rice paddies. If you’re not much of a cyclist, but enjoy outdoor activities, you can also consider surfing, zip-lining, and white-water rafting to get your adrenaline kick.
2. Walking tours of Ubud and/or local villages
Bali has several towns and villages worth exploring, not least of which is Ubud, one of the centres of tourism on the island. You can head on leisurely guided tours along nature trails, stopping off in local markets, Buddhist temples, or the famous Monkey Forest along the way.
3. Learn to cook Balinese cuisine
The food is a definite highlight of a trip to Bali, so learning to cook a few local dishes will be an experience you’ll savour after your return home. A cooking class showcases the entire farm-to-plate experience in the company of a local chef. You’ll learn to use staple ingredients like garlic, coconut, and lemongrass and cook dishes such as sate, lawar, and nasi jinggo. You’ll buy ingredients at the morning market and then bring them back to the kitchen classroom to enjoy a hands-on cooking experience and cap it off by feasting on your dishes with your fellow group members.
4. Beach resort activities
Bali’s beaches are arguably its most appealing features. You’ll have plenty of opportunity to relax at beach resorts on the island near Kuta or Nusa Dua. Swim in the warm waters, snorkel through coral gardens, try your hand at surfing at some of Southeast Asia’s most popular surf spots, or book a fishing excursion. All the while, you’ll work on your tan and get a healthy glow for when you return home.
5. Yoga and meditation retreats
Bali is also a great place to recharge with some wellness activities. You can choose from one-day or seven-day packages focusing on yoga, meditation, cultural activities or wellness programs. Rejuvenate your mind, body, and spirit and reflect on the gift of a trip to Bali.
No group is too big, too small, or too unusual for the planning experts at Goway Groups Only!
